Hi! I need some help here. I've found a record in a spanish church, it says that "Isabel Browne natural de Neucastel, en el Reino de Escocia" (born in Neucastel, Kingdom of Scotland). I guess she was born between 1670-1680. She married in 1697 in Bruges, Flanders (according to another record, but I have not found it yet). I thought that the city was Newcastle upon Tyne, but it belongs to England. Others cities with that name are south of the territory. So, was the city under Scottish rule around that time? Or was it a mistake of the priest? Any other place in Scotland with a similar name?
Thanks.
