Dutch soldier Johannes Schenk in English hospital in Barbados 1804

My ancestor Johannes Schenk was captured as a Prisoner of war during the capitulation of Surinam in 1804. The conditions were very favourable for the garison as all would be returned to their country of origin in Europe. First convoy went through the English center of command Barbados in 1804.

My ancestor was hospitalized in Barbados and could only leave in January 1805.

I wonder if records can be retrieved of these hospitals? Perhaps it wil be possible find out the nature of his illness.
