Help finding someone from Rennes area

Hello, I've been trying to locate a gentleman from the Rennes area. If he is still living, he would be in his late 80's or 90's. The family name is Plessix or Plessis, and first name is Bernardo. Can anyone help me with this, please? Thank you!

Thank you for the information. I have searched on Geneanet's death notices before and there are no matches for Plessis, which I find odd, since it seems it's a common name in France. The man you sent as being a possible match would not be since he was born in 1904. However, perhaps the woman might be his wife, being born closer to the age range of Bernardo (He was 16 in 1945, so would have been born in the 20's). Is there any other place to find an obituary besides in Geneanet? I searched for the woman as well, but no Plessis matches at all. Perhaps if I could find the obituary for the Jean Marie Bernard Hervé DE PARSCAU DU PLESSIS (born 1927 near Rennes, dead 2000 in French Brittany), they might have listed her family members. I know I most likely won't find Bernardo still living, I'm just hoping to find his family. Thank you for any help you can give me.!

I don't know exactly how you have searched in the death records, but there are matches for Plessis :
- 26 results for Plessis in Rennes
- 3885 results for Plessis in France
- 73 results for Bernard Plessis in France
- 0 result for Bernardo Plessis in France

Ok, what am I doing wrong!! Going to the link you provided, https://www.geneanet.org/blog/post/2019/12/deces-de-france-de-1970-a-aujourdhui-desormais-disponibles-geneanet, I found the box needing name/location. Once I entered the name, a page comes up saying no matches found. I'll try to attach screen shots so you can see where I am, in case I'm in the wrong location!

It is just because I only put Plessis without Bernardo.
There is no Bernardo. But the french for Bernardo is Bernard and it's possible that the death was recorded with Bernard, even if Bernardo is his real name.
If you use Plessis and Bernard (without o), you have some answers.

Ive tried it just with Plessis as well, but nothing! I did manage to find another section where I was able to bring up some Plessis', but I don't have the premium package so I'm not able to look for actual obituaries. I tried listing the around Rennes you provided to narrow it down, but no one comes up in that area. There were 400 plus entries without adding an area! Im not sure what areas listed are in the vicinity of the Rennes area.

I will try to explain you how to do (maybe the name will not be exact because I don't use english interface)

Make the search as you have done for Plessis Bernardo.
Use the 'Edit search' button
Remove 'bernardo'
For the place add 'Rennes' in the first box and 'Ille-et-Villaine, France' in the second one.
Them use the down arrow after Rennes to choose include neighborhood, for example 30km.
You should have 42 results.

I'm not premium either, but this is no problem to have the list. To have more details on exact dates, you then need either to be premium or to go to public records to find more information

Ok, thank you! I will try this suggestion this evening. If I am able to narrow things down to a couple possibilities, are you able to help me find the actual obituaries in public records? I don't know if obituaries are listed in newspapers in France as they are in the States, or public record is the only approach (besides purchasing a membership which I hate to do for just this one thing!). Thank you again for your help!

If you find people of interest in the list, it is very easy to find exact dates and places of birth and death with this link (at least if you speak french)

So yes I can help you to get more information on some people.

Then get full certificates will be easy or not depending of dates and places.

Some websites give informations which were published on newspapers, like

But it is not so common to publish something.
