Hello, I just uploaded my raw DNA data and the GEDCOM of my tree from Ancestry. My highest match and I have ancestors in common on our trees, but on the match page it says there are none in common. Is there something I still need to do to get everything set up properly?
Thank you,
Shirley

Hi Shirley,
It seems like the privacy settings of the matching tree can interfere with the tree comparison. Hopefully that limitation will be addressed soon.

Meanwhile, what I usually do after I locate the match in his/her tree is to go to Print > Ancestry > Charts and Lists > Table, select "Where born" and "Where dead" and the number of generations. I end up with a table that I can easily scan for familiar names and places.

I far as I can tell, both trees are public. Would privacy settings affect them?

Dear Madam,

As it is said at the bottom of the DNA match page, the list of common ancestors is reserved for Premium members.

As a free Geneanet member, you can browse the family tree of your DNA relative to find your common ancestors.

I see that the list of common ancestors is reserved for Premium members. Would it be asking too much if this rule applied when at least one of the descendants is a Premium member?

I am said to be DNA-connected with lots of people at a 0.1% level, while some cousins - with whom I share many cM - do not appear as related in spite of the presence of common ancestors in our respective trees. It is true that I have no other real DNA connections in addition to the said cousins, but other Premium members may.

Very best wishes.

Your DNA relatives must have linked their DNA data to their Geneanet family tree for the common ancestors to show up. If they did not link their DNA data to their Geneanet family tree, we can't find who are the common ancestors and you must contact them.
